Archbishop Ndungande Speaks at Trinity

Thursday, Oct 18, 7 pm in Trinity Hall
The Most Rev. Njongonkulu Ndungane, Archbishop of Cape Town and Primate of the Province of Southern Africa will be at Holy Trinity Thursday, October 18 for a Town Hall Meeting.
The event will open with traditional African music and a video of the TEAM (Toward Effective Anglican Mission) conference in Boksburg which was attended by Bishop Marc and a number of California pilgrims. He will discuss Millennium Development Goals and Global Mission in the Anglican context. The program will end with a question and answer period and a reception.
"We need to shout from the rooftops that AIDS is not God's punishment of the wicked. It is a virus and not a sin, and the stigma that society has created around the epidemic is causing people to die instead of living positively."
Anglican Archbishop Njongonkulu Ndungane of South Africa, speaking on the occasion of AIDS Awareness Day, December 1, 2002.
We must learn to recognise God at work in people who are not ‘one of us.’We must not be like Joshua, who can only accept those who are prophesying under Moses’ direct oversight. Rather, we should be like Moses, who sees that God is at work in Eldad and Medad, and generously says ‘Would that all the Lord’s people were prophets!’
It is not easy to live with a spectrum of perspectives – it is challenging even when we are fully confident we are all firmly within the Anglican heartlands.
But this wrestling together offers us the possibility of treasures that cannot be found in more monochrome approaches.
As individuals, congregations, Dioceses, Provinces, and as a Global Communion, we grow best when we have that level of complimentary difference which can indeed ‘provoke one another to love and to good deeds’ (Heb 10:24).
Archbishop Ndungane preaching at Southwark Cathedral in Oct. 2006.

Don't let your meatball roll off the table; help us help the less fortunate by coming together as a community to share a meal and a game. Tickets are $25 per adult and $10 for each child. Call the Church Office to RSVP as we need to plan food quantities and have enough Bingo cards ready. Proceeds support 2007 Social Ministries programs at the local, regional, national, and international level.

Weeding as a Meditation
Saturday, October 27, 7 am to 11 am
You can come at any time and stay as long as you wish.
Bring your own marked tools
JB & Gayle Brahy have offered to fix us all lunch at 11 am (that’s the Eaters part)
During this calendar year we have had 69 parishioners and their friends who have worked to keep our campus beautiful. Thank you all. Several people have suggested that we let people choose a favorite area to keep weeded and trimmed. We have put together a map of the campus and would welcome parishioners to choose a specific space to tend for a year. These can be small plots. We will have a map of the campus at the church for several Sundays. Look for us at the Question Booth on Sunday mornings.
