Interim Rector's Reflections

Dear Friends,

Summer is almost here and vacation plans are shaping up. I hope you all find time for some fun and some relaxation. I also hope that you will come to church when you are in town and when you are someplace else, that you will visit other churches and bring home good ideas to share with us.

In June we are sending two groups on mission trips: one group to the Gulf Coast to help rebuild communities in Mississippi and the other, our youth group, to the Heifer International, Inc. camp at Ceres, near Modesto. You can support them through prayer and donations to help underwrite their expenses.

Summer is also time to catch up on reading. Of course we all do some light, escape reading, but it’s worth adding something that will stretch our thinking and our believing. One source of interesting books is http://speakingoffaith.publicradio.org. Each week Krista Tippet interviews a guest who speaks out of his/her own faith experience, and often she recommends a couple of books on the subject. Her program is not broadcast in the Bay Area, but you might find her on NPR in your travels.

Summer can also be a time of spiritual growth, as you have more time for deep conversations, reflection, meditation, prayer or journaling while on vacation. Call or come by if you would like to talk about any of these ways of growing in faith.

I will be away for a week in July and a week in August, but someone will always be on call for pastoral emergencies.

May each of you find some Sabbath time in the coming months.

Faithfully, Anne+

P.S. Cash flow is always difficult in the summer. It really helps us if you will prepay your pledge before you leave. Thanks, AHJ
