Anglican Communion News

There's plenty of news these days about the Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion. For those who would like to keep abreast of these developments, and read the comments of others in our church, we've assembled some links below to websites that cover and comment on these events.

A couple of points to remember as you "surf" the Anglican Web...

1. The opinions expressed are the opinions of the authors, not Trinity Parish. We enjoy a diversity of opinion in this Parish, and try hard to listen to all viewpoints with respect and Christian love. That's why you may see ideas and opinions expressed through these links with which most in the Trinity community would disagree. The purpose of these links is to help you be fully informed, not to push a particular position or view. We're not making endorsements.

2. Few of these events or these people will have any effect on our life together at Trinity Parish. If you find any of these statements frightening or disturbing, feel free to ignore them and focus on our community. Please feel free to discuss your feelings with our clergy or Parish leadership.

Episcopal News Service:
A great place to get the basic news, or the full transcript of sermons and statements from leaders in the church.

EpiScope
This new site tracks stories about the Episcopal Church appearing in the press. Remember that the press is not always fair or friendly to religious organizations, and take all reports with the appropriate grain-of-salt.

Thinking Anglicans
This site is run by Church of England priest Simon Sarmiento and it gives a look at Church news as seen from England. Plenty of coverage of American church events too.

Weblogs:
These websites, usually referred to as "blogs" are the public journals of individuals; a place to express their thoughts and opinions to a worldwide readership. The weblogs are as varied as the people in the church, ranging from liberal to conservative, eloquent to blunt, educated to ...well, less so. Remember that every blog author is a person who feels sufficiently strongly about an issue to craft a written expression and post it to the world. Remember when you read these blogs that these are not the smartest, holiest or even most mature people in our church, just the loudest. That said, there are some very fine writers out there, you may find your self inspired.

Bishop Marc
Our own Bishop has begun a weblog, to which he posts occasionally. This is one person who does influence our parish life, so his writings are worth studying.
