The Heard Word
Alleluia! Christ is risen.
What a glorious Easter! Thank you to everyone who made it possible—literally there are scores of folks who devote so many hours to make sure it all comes together and it did come together. Were there glitches? Oh yes, from time to time and probably more than one—some noticed and some not. But you know what? We can be perfect the next year or the next year or the next…and God is all right with that—because we got the essentials right. Our Savior came and died for us and conquered the grave so that we might live forever. Happy Easter!
Now we turn our immediate attention to the election of a new Bishop. The walkabout of the candidates was held in Redwood City and everyone was invited to come and meet them and hear what they have to say. Trinity has chosen delegates to the convention which is set for May 6. In addition our two clergy who are canonical residents of the Diocese of California (Bill Schooler and myself) will vote with the clergy.
The Commission on Pastoral Care is putting together a parish visitors team to visit Trinity folks in their homes. We need volunteers and there will be training. It is not a ministry that will take a lot of time—but we feel an urgent need to provide this outreach. Please, please, please pray about it and call Alecia and leave your name or call
Commission member Sara Bostock and she can give you additional details. The subcommittee investigating the Parish Nurse program is doing all of their homework and will soon surface with details about what they will propose.
May is here and we only have a limited number of Sunday school classes left for this year. We will begin to shift our attention to next year. Your Family Ministries Commission is hard at work building a program for 2006-07. We know we need more teachers. If this is something you would consider (with proper training) please speak to
me. We have excellent curriculum and goals—we just need teachers and that must come from the Trinity community.
The Memorial Garden Guild will meet at 7:30 pm May 9. We will be discussing ideas for perpetual care of that sacred space. If you are interested in joining us, please come.
The Lord is risen indeed!
Fr. Fred
