Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the Stewardship Commission?
A: Stewardship encourages individuals to offer their Time, Talent, and Treasure to Trinity Parish.

Q: I know expenses are rising and we are adding additional programs for adult education, music and youth, but as a parishioner what can I do to help?
A: In order to meet the increase in expenditures you mention individuals can take three actions.

  • Bring in new members who will add their pledge to Trinity's budget.
  • Encourage congregants who attend Trinity, but don't pledge, to commit to a regular pledge.
  • Increase individual pledges during the Fall pledge drive.

By growing the pledge base and modestly increasing individual monthly pledges, we will meet our budget without sacrificing either new or established programs.

Q: How does Stewardship differ from other donations to the Parish?
A: Stewardship provides week-to-week operating moneys through the annual pledge campaign. Pledges are extremely important to the Parish as pledge levels determine how we budget for each year. Decisions on staffing levels, programs and events are based on the pledge campaign.

Q: I'm new. Is it too late to pledge?

A: Absolutely not! To get more information and a pledge card call the office at 326-2083 or email us. You can now submit your pledge with the On-Line Pledge Card!

Q: What is tithing?
A: Tithing is the traditional biblical standard for giving. For many individuals and churches tithing is the standard. Those who tithe give 10% of their incomes to support the work of the church.

Q: What if I want to give shares of stock?
A: Giving real goods rather than hard currency is an old tradition in the Episcopal church. The 21st century update is to donate stock. The tax benefits include:

  • You do not pay taxes on the increase in value of the stock.
  • Trinity gets the full market value.
  • Your gift is recognized at market value.

If you have any questions or would like to explore giving securities as your annual pledge, contact our treasurer Jennifer Fitzmorris. The gift must be a listed security. You may wish to check with your tax advisor.
