Social Ministries 2007 Report

The Social Ministries Commission is pleased to report on the success of our fund raising efforts during the year and show how the funds have been spent to help those in need in our community, the nation and the world.

Annual Meeting on Jan 20th

The Annual Parish Meeting will be held on Sunday, January 20, as part of the Third Sunday Supper. We need a quorum so be sure you are there! Preparation of the 2007 Annual Report is underway and it will be distributed at that time. The 2008 budget, which was prepared at December’s Vestry Meeting (and based on pledge totals as of the middle of December) will be updated, based on additional pledges received, and presented at the annual meeting. Outgoing Vestry members will be recognized.

Themes in the LIVE BIG curriculum for 3rd – 5th graders

In January, our students will learn about prayer. The B.I.G. theme is “We can talk to God,” and the B.I.G. Idea is, “We believe God hears and answers our prayers.” The children will learn about Hannah, Solomon, and the Lord’s Prayer, and will also explore the practice of prayer in their lives.

Epiphany at Sunday School

Stories in the Godly Play classes: Baptism is one of the major themes of the Epiphany Season. At Sunday School, the Godly Play curriculum will explore Holy Baptism, as well as the Parable of the Good Shepherd, and the Parable of the Leaven.
