Millenium Development Goal Intergenerational Forums

There will be two MDG Intergenerational Forums at 9:30 in Trinity Hall, on February 10 and March 2. We will explore selected concepts of the MDGs in interactive, concrete ways that will be relevant to a child’s and parents’ perspective.

LENTEN OUTREACH INTERGENERATIONAL FORUMS at 9:30, February 17 and March 9

On these Sunday mornings we’ll gather together as families in Trinity Hall and do hands-on work putting together donations for selected outreach projects in our own backyard.

If you’re interested in helping with any of these projects, please send me an e-mail or call me at 510-205-9843. Together, we can make Lent an enriching time of learning at Trinity.
Blessings for your Lenten journey, Beth+

A Family Lent

The Mystery of Easter is one of my favorite Godly Play stories. Slowly, the storyteller puts together six purple puzzle pieces, one for each week of Lent. With each piece added to the puzzle, the storyteller says a little more about Lent. “Lent helps us to get ready. It is a time to know more about the One who is Easter. It is also a time to learn more about who we really are.” At the end of the story, we see that the puzzle is in the shape of a cross. Lent is a time of preparation and contemplation. It has a bad rap for being the “denial” season. One of the beautiful things about Lent is that if we allow ourselves to enter into its spirit of self-examination, more space is created for our faith to grow. When we arrive at Easter the purple-shaped pieces of our lives will come together in a new cross-shaped way and we will experience the Resurrection anew.

This Lent, come walk together with your children through the 40 days of preparation and contemplation of the mystery of Easter.

Lent Through the Eyes of a Child
• A time for looking at the things we have done that are wrong, asking God’s and other people’s forgiveness.
• A time for giving up the things that keep us from being loving people;
• A time for doing extra things that will help us grow closer to God;
• A time to be more aware of what it means to love as God loves us;
• A time to ask God to help us be more loving, remembering that God is always ready to strengthen us.
• A time to think about our baptism and what it means to be a child of God.
