SUNDAY SCHOOL AT TRINITY!
Your child already has an ongoing relationship with God. In Psalm 139, we read that “you yourself created my inmost parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” God knows us and wants our relationship to develop over our lifetime. We honor the spirituality of children and encourage it to grow through our whole faith formation
program.
Sunday School encourages that spiritual relationship with God to grow strong throughout childhood. It’s one aspect of our faith formation program, along with family devotions, and prayer, Adventure Sundays in church, the acolyte program, serving lunch to the homeless, and other church community events. At Trinity, we’re building a community
of learners who look forward to seeing their friends at church as they learn about God, and serve God together.
Here’s the Sunday morning routine:
We offer professional nursery care in the Meadow Room from 8:30 – 11:30 am for infants and young children up to age four. If you prefer to worship with your children, they are always welcome in the liturgy. There are activity bags at the rear of the church.
During the 9:30 Forum Time: We will have supervised activities in the Hearth Room, and children’s choir practice during this time slot. Stay tuned for more information in the weekly e-mail Family Ministries newsletter.
At the 10:30 am Service: Children begin in church with their parents at 10:30 am and come up to the front for the Children’s Homily. Then they meet their teachers for class. Children will return to church by the end of the service. On Adventure Sundays (typically the last Sunday of the month) there is no Sunday school and children come to
church with their parents.
Godly Play: Pre-Kindergarten through Third Grade: This year we have two classes of Godly Play, pre-K through Kindergarten, and First through Third Grade. What is Godly Play? Godly Play is a Montessori-based way of teaching Sunday School. Each week the children gather in a circle and hear a story told by a trained storyteller
with a specially created set of objects that help tell the story. At the end of the story, the children “wonder” together about the story, and then respond through art and quiet play. Learn more about Godly Play at the Orientation, September 13 during the 10:30 service.
Godly Explorers: The Godly Explorers class is for 4th and 5th graders. They will actively explore the Bible, the liturgy, and spiritual practices, with each other and their teachers. They will also serve in church by acolyting and reading on Adventure Sundays.
