Vestry News

At its August meeting the Vestry continued to focus on parish operations and our goals for 2009:
1. Engaging worship

2. Intentional faith development

3. Radical welcoming

4. Call our new rector

5. Action for mercy and justice

We were so happy and thankful to welcome Fr. Matthew to his first Vestry meeting at Trinity. He reported that he and his family are settling in nicely. He has met with all the staff and planned a staff retreat in early Sept.

We spent most of the time discussing the budget. We revised the current budget, and began planning the process for budgeting for 2010. Not surprisingly, pledging was down this year and the budget is being adjusted to reflect that. We are adopting a deficit budget. Because of the general economic downturn, 2010 will be another difficult year.

A huge “Thank you!” to Robert Wendin and Steve Andrews for the amazing work they have done as treasurers. And welcome Kent Smith and Robert Sage, our new treasurers.

We discussed upcoming events: Welcome Home Sunday (9/13), Stewardship’s Breaking Bread Together Suppers, Outreach Sunday (9/20), and the Oktoberfest Outreach Fundraiser on Oct. 10.

Vestry meetings are open to all, so please join us if you wish at 7 p.m. on the 4th Tuesday of every month in the Library.
